On November 4, 2016, the career development forum themed by “The Power of Example Helps you Make the Correct Choice”, co-held by the International Business College (IBC) of Dongbei and University of Finance and Economics (the University) and (Chartered Public Accountants) CPA Australia, and the letter of appointment issuing ceremony for postgraduate tutors outside the University was held at the Dufe Cafe in the Shuyin building. In the event, hosted by Prof. Shi Da, Vice President of IBC hosted the event, Prof. Zhao Yanzhi, Dean of IBC  made the speech, who first greeted the visiting guests from CPA, and reviewed the cooperation between IBC and CPA representatives in Beijing. At the same time, he thanked the practice tutors from outside the University for their in-depth cooperation with IBC in the training of international professional talents for a long time through various forms, and encouraged students to better integrate professional knowledge and future career development plan. Subsequently, Ms. Jenny Wang, the chief representative of CPA in Beijing, said in her speech that under the macro background of rising economic and trade cooperation between China and Australia, CPA which aims to focus on public interest has played a very important role and the demand gap in professionals of CPA is also in urgent need. After the speech, Ms. Wang and Prof. Zhao Yanzhi jointly issued a formal letter of appointment for the present practice tutor representatives from outside the University. Participants of the event included: Mr. Chen Deqiang, Australia Senior Certified Public Accountant, Vice Chairman of the North China Committee of CPA Australia, Ernst & Young Certified Public Accountant Firm Financial Trading Consulting Partner, Mr. Luo Xijiang, Australia Senior Certified Public Accountant, Chief Financial Officer of Genpact Dalian Co., Ltd., Ms. Tan Xiaolu, Vice President and Financial Assistant of Genpact Dalian Co., Ltd., Mr. Sui Guoyuan, Partner of Dahua Certified Public Accountant Firm, Mr. Yang Xiaonan, Chief Financial Officer of Ogilvy China, Mr. Deng Huibo, Assistant to the Minister of Organization Department of Beijing Municipal Communist Youth League Committee, Ms. Cui Shengyuan, Senior Auditor of Price Waterhouse Coopers, Ms. Li Ying, Senior Manager of HP Dalian Financial Sharing Center and Ms. Li Yang, Senior Financial Consultant of Citibank. At present, IBC has officially signed with a total of 40 tutors to guide practice outside the University for masters candidates.

In order to better motivate students to combine their expertise and future career development plans, the Forum invited Mr. Chen Deqiang, Australia Senior Certified Public Accountant, Vice Chairman of the North China Committee of CPA Australia, Ernst & Young Certified Public Accountant Firm Financial Trading Consulting Partner, Mr. Luo Xijiang, Australia Senior Certified Public Accountant, Chief Financial Officer of Genpact Dalian Co., Ltd., and Ms. Tan Xiaolu, Vice President and Financial Assistant of Genpact Dalian Co., Ltd. to share their own career development experience. With the combination of career planning and career development, this enables the students to have more in-depth understanding of the accounting profession, and stronger awareness of how to improve employment advantages and reasonably plan career development. By telling his own experience, Mr. Chen Dejiang showed the power an “example” can bring, and also conveyed his view of the value that “to do a good job is to earn one’s own happiness, and happiness brings health”; Mr. Luo Xijiang, who has worked in the Philippines, Singapore and Hong Kong, told students that in the future there will be more and more large foreign-funded enterprises in need of more senior accounting management personnel, which requires them to learn professional skills and excel in international languages on the learning stage, and Australia CPA meets those two very needs; by introducing her own experience in preparing for the CPA exam, Ms. Tan Xiaolu elaborated how close theories of Australian CPA curriculum are related to actual business, and urged students to cherish their time of education , and strive to improve their professional quality, actively participate in internships, and combine theory and practice as soon as possible

After the wonderful speeches of the guests when everybody was motivated and very active, the interactive question and answer session was started for the students and graduate tutors to have face to face communication and discussion in the sub-forum. The students, having been in close contact with tutors from enterprises, benefited a lot from this event, who will work out a clearer plan for their career development and clearer goals and guidance for their remaining education.
