he Global Business Challenge (GBC), hosted by the Royal Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), will be launched in March , 2017. As the organizer of the First Division Regional Finals of GBC, the International Business College (IBC) of Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (the University) will work together with CIMA to present a excellent business elite competition for students.
The team which wins the regional finals will go to the Chinese University of Hong Kong on June 12, and join the Asia Finals with the winner of other regional finals such as the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Macau University of Science and Technology, Taiwan University of Political Science, Japan Kyoto University, Japan Waseda University and so on.
INTRODUCTION TO GBC
The GBC is a world-class event for undergraduate students initiated by the CIMA. It aims to discover and nurture the excellent business qualities of college students, integrate their knowledge and expand their workplace competition, further cultivate more business leaders who can lead the future of social development. Since its debut in 2009, it has attracted the attention and participation of many countries and regions around the world. The participating countries and regions include China, Ireland, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, India, mainland of China, the Philippines, Malaysia, Pakistan, Poland, Singapore, the Middle East, Russia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, South Africa, Ghana, the United Arab Emirates and Australia. In accordance with the principles of fairness, impartiality and openness, the organizers of the competition aim to “look for future business leaders” and select an outstanding student team with prominent commercial potential and proficiency in knowledges of finance, marketing, and management.
Since its debut in 2009, GBC has been providing a high-level international stage for students all around the world to show their business knowledge, logical analysis, talents and skills, innovative thinking and other comprehensive capabilities. Each team that enters the quareter-final of GBC needs to analyze, report and demonstrate CIMA’s classic exam case. The CIMA case test is a high-level highly authoritative and practical management accounting examination recognized by the industry, which is an effective way to get access to promotion for financial staff to the management direction, and management staff to higher-end career development(confusing). A pioneer in relating to CIMA classic cases, the GBC competition opens a channel for college students to expand their business and financial practical skills, develop strategic thinking, exercise the ability to analyze information and data, enhance workplace competitiveness and obtain access to future career promotions while also laying a foundation for enterprises to receive prepared talents in future comprehensive management.
2017 saw the new opportunity of the joint building of the International Association of Certified Professional Accountants by CIMA and AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants). Besides, the GBC competition will provide students with richer competition resources and raise the employment level of outstanding players. The finalists will have the opportunity to get a number of internship and interview opportunities in well-known enterprises at home and abroad.
RELEVANT INFORMATION TO GBC
Mainland China regional trials are undertaken in four sub-divisions, each of which has a preliminary competition and regional finals. There will be dozens of senior members from the business and academic circles to conduct a rigorous evaluation and screening of the preliminary report, and eight outstanding teams will compete in the regional finals. Five senior members of CIMA will serve as field judges for regional finals. The winning team in the four regions will be invited to participate in the North Asian Regional Finals held by the Chinese University of Hong Kong on June 12.
