In December 2012, Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (the University) signed with the American Association of Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA Institute), thus the University became mainland China’s seventh university project partner with CFA. With a course system in connection with American Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), the establishment of the discipline is committed to cultivating outstanding international financing talents who systematically master theoretical knowledge, have high professional ethics and strong social responsibility and practical ability, have a good command of international rules and are proficient in English (as a working language). The discipline is featured with English-language teaching and cross-culture exchanges, and English speaking and writing courses are taught by foreign teachers. The textbooks of most courses are in original English versions, and interpreted by Chinese-English bilingually. The faculty consists of elite teachers from around the globe. The students study with peers from overseas to increase their international awareness. In the fourth year, the students will have the chance to study for six months to one year in universities in the United Kingdom and the United States. Students with a good English learning background and strong learning ability, after completing all thecourses a bachelor’s degree needs, will have the opportunity to pass the CFA exam and become a senior business professional with a CFA certification. They can better expand their international perspective, and enhance their employability by combining professional knowledge with future career development plan.

The main courses for the Finance program include: macroeconomics, microeconomics, corporate financial statements analysis, econometrics, corporate finance, international finance, financial institutions and financial market management, securities investment, investment banking, financial risk management, financial modeling, financial derivatives-markets and instruments, multinational banks and etc.

The Finance program recruits high school students both in liberal arts and science and a bachelor’s degree in economics is granted upon graduation.
